Catholic schools are a vital aspect of the Church’s mission to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As such they are important to the future and vitality of the Church in the United States. Catholic schools are traditionally one of the best ways to educate young Catholics in the faith. The complexity of factors within Catholic education today and the urgency to reach out to families of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds call for on-going discussion about Catholic schools. 

As an aspect of the New Evangelization, Catholic schools have an essential role. In recognizing underserved populations and the increasing numbers of Latino children, Catholic schools play an important part in evangelizing and educating Catholic children. 

This myUSCCB live event continues a discussion of the importance of Catholic schools in the context of the New Evangelization initiated at the recent November General Assembly of Bishops in Baltimore and in anticipation of Catholic Schools Week 2015.
